MENTAL HEALTH CORNER

How are you dealing with the stress and trauma that we are being exposed to? Would you recognize if you were having a mental health crisis? How often are you doing a self-check in? The year 2020 has caused us a great deal of first and secondary trauma with the effects of the pandemic and over exposure to racial injustices. Watching the world shut down has caused many people anxiety, depression and triggered other mental health issues. Are you okay? Do you know it’s okay to not be okay at times? If we can’t admit to ourselves that we aren’t okay and advocate for our wellness it can stifle our progress in life. We must work on taking care of ourselves and protecting our mental health while dealing with our new norm. It’s important to practice self-care, learn a new hobby, develop coping strategies that work for you, learn to use grounding techniques and set boundaries that help you become the most effective person you can during these uncertain times. Mental health therapist and support groups are available as tools to help navigate through the various emotions one may be experiencing. Therapy works, don’t let stigma stop you.
