As parents when it comes to raising our children or child, we want the best for them.  We can become so consumed with making rules to protect them or guide them that we can overlook building a better or deeper relationship with them. You may ask what do I mean by building a better or deeper relationship with them? A true relationship doesn’t form automatically because you carry the title of father, mother, or guardian. The relationship starts when take the time to balance the love and the rules. Are you saying I love you as much as you are delegating rules? Are you asking them what is on your mind and giving them the opportunity to express themselves and give their opinion without labeling them as disrespectful? See children are more prone to listen and abide by your rules when you aren’t a stranger to them in their own home. I challenge you if you are parent or guardian to examine your relationship so that the future outcome isn’t rebellion from your child or children. While you are guiding them, protecting them, teaching them, please don’t forget to love on them.
