Procrastination…the action of delaying or postponing something, according to dictionary.com. Procrastination, we all suffer from it from time to time. While we all suffer from it, I’m here to tell you the best way to get over it. And it may be easier said then done. I read a book once called “Eat the Frog”. For those, that haven’t heard of the book, the book basically talks about taking the worst or biggest task and doing it first. No matter what, this concept is the best way to overcome procrastination. The only reason most people procrastinate is simply because they don’t want to get the work/job/task, whatever it is…done. The work/job/task, whatever seems too dauting, too draining, so large so big, so whatever that we procrastinate and wait until the last possible second to get it done. And don’t think I haven’t heard the stories. I’ve heard the stories. Heck I’ve said some of the same stories to myself. Especially, the infamous one…you know that infamous line of “I do my best work at the last minute.” Yeah, right. No such thing. You may do good work at the last minute but it is certainly not your best work. The reason it is not your best is because you end putting undue stress upon yourself and the stress makes giving your all, a subpar experience. Who wants a subpar experience? If subpar was what you were going for from the beginning, then why did you take so long to do it?
The reality is this, procrastination is never the thing to relay on to get the best work out of yourself. The best way to get the best work out of yourself it to simply do the work. Do the job. Do the task. Do the whatever. Eat the frog for goodness sake!!! You can do this. Trust me…you got this!!!
